A CANADIAN company exploring for minerals in Nyimba district has confirmed positive results for a combination of zinc-copper-silver mineralisation in the area. Mukuba Resources Limited said confirmatory drilling on the Chipirinyuma target within the Nyimba Project area had been completed and that assay results confirmed presence of polymetallic zinc-copper-silver mineralisation.

Company president and chief executive officer Trevor Richardson said the results from Nyimba gave Mukuba Resources Limited confidence to move ahead on this “exciting” base metal prospect.

“This initial drilling programme on the Chipirinyuma target confirmed base metal mineralisation and Mukuba’s focus in 2011 on Nyimba will be to test the extent of this mineralisation,” Richardson said.

“To date, no work has been done to test the lateral or vertical extent of the deposit. Within the Nyimba project area, there are four other distinct areas of mineralisation namely Lutala Hills, Umba River, Ndake, and Ngambwa and these will also be tested in 2011.”

Last year, Mukuba completed eight confirmatory boreholes within a two kilometre portion of the approximate 3.5 kilometre strike length.

Richardson said results from the mineralised borehole intersections confirm polymetallic mineralisation hosted in the high grade metamorphic rocks of the Muva Metamorphic Belt.

“Although we will continue to work on the copper potential of the very prospective Northcore Project, these results from Nyimba give us the confidence to move ahead on this exciting base metal prospect,” said Richardson.

Mukuba is a mining company focused on the exploration and development of the Northcore Project, located in the highly prospective Central Zambia.

The Northcore Project holds an exploration license for both copper and cobalt.
