Auditor General’s officers compromised – Chifungula

The Auditor General’s office last year recorded unprecedented number of reports of auditors who were compromised during the course of duty. Auditor General Anna Chifungula disclosed this during the opening of the annual planning meeting for her staff at Chaminuka lodge in Lusaka.

She complained that the propensity to acquire wealth through dubious means at the expense of professionalism was worrying. Ms Chifungula warned that any officers who will be found wanting this year would face serious action.

She also called on her staff to enhance their supervisory roles through well coordinated audits.

The Auditor General said she expected the auditors to demonstrate preparedness to use the integrated financial management system as an effective tool.

And Ms. Chifungula announced that the production of the 2009 auditor general’s report had been completed and would be released soon.
