PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda is running a brutal government that is killing people anyhow, says Col Panji Kaunda. Commenting on Headman Sampaya Nyambe of Lifweko village in Mongu district's statement that the next government must arrest President Banda for murder over the death of two youths in Mongu, Col Kaunda said President Banda's government must not be allowed to kill people anyhow and must be tried for murder.

He said the commanding officer for Western Province, the minister and all those that gave orders must be tried for murder.

“The killings were not by accident, so that's why we've been calling for an inquiry in the death of the two in Mongu. We need to establish why guns were fired, at what range, what were the circumstances that led to the firing of the bullets because we've just heard from one side, that of government,” said Col Kaunda.

“The police man who fired that bullet was sent and those who gave orders must be held responsible. The MMD is a brutal regime, that's how they killed my brother (major Wezi Kaunda). They have no respect for human rights and humanity,” he said.

He said the police officers who killed people were agents of government and must be held reponsible.

In yesterday's edition of The Post, Headman Nyambe said President Banda should be jointly charged with home affairs minister Mkhondo Lungu and Inspector General of police Francis Kabonde.

“In all fairness President Rupiah Banda as commander-in-Chief of the armed forces should be arrested by the in-coming government and tried for murdering our children,” Nyambe said.
