YOUTHS in Western Province have endorsed the PF and its leader Michael Sata as presidential candidate in this year’s elections.

During the launch of the Western Province pact forum, residents drawn from all the districts of the province resolved to support Sata because he was the only one capable of bringing the change people desired.

In adopting Sata, the crowd shouted that Alliance for Democracy and Development (ADD) leader Charles Milupi was not politically experienced to run the country. “On behalf of the youths, come rain, come night, as youths in Western Province we endorse Sata. The issue of UPND and Hakainde Hichilema in the province is dead,” Oscar Limuyu said.

Another youth, Silumesi Ikasaya echoed Limuyu’s sentiments. “I’m an ADD member from Nangula ward in Luena Constituency, bo Milupi can’t be president. He came very late on the scene and this issue of forming small parties before elections is a waste of time. Sata has what it takes to be president,” Ikasaya said.

Earlier, the cheering crowd interjected another youth, Situmbeko Musialela, who said Sata was not popular. At this point an elderly man, Liemisa Liemisa, from Kalabo asked those against Sata to leave the hall because people were fed up of MMD. Asked who was for Sata, the crowd shouted Mwamukolo while raising the PF symbol.

People’s pact interim secretary Peter Sinkamba said it was clear Sata was endorsed because all districts in the province were represented at the meeting. Sinkamba said if the people of Western Province vote for MMD, they should forget about development.

“It’s easy to beat MMD with Sata and PF because they enjoy majority support. MMD has no regard towards improving the lives of you here. We can only remove MMD if we unite,” Sinkamba said amid ululations.
