Sudden developments won’t sway voters, says traditional leader

ZAMBIANS will not be trapped in voting for the MMD by the sudden road developments, says a traditional leader. In an interview Fred Mwampatisha who is headman Mwantalasha of Chongwe district said the MMD was treating Zambians like babies who could easily be silenced with sweets.

In an interview on Wednesday, headman Mwantalasha flanked by Thomas Pinyolo who is headman Lobolola said the developments which were suddenly being carried out countrywide were more or less like vote buying.

“The government is now busy grading roads; we have been waiting for too long, why now? Zambians will not be trapped in voting for the MMD by these sudden developments,” said headman Mwantalasha.

He said the MMD risked losing the elections if they continued to show this trickery. “They are treating us like children, like babies who want sweets,” he said.

And asked if the traditional leaders were surprised at Chongwe parliamentarian and MMD national executive committee member Sylvia Masebo’s refusal to contest the Chongwe seat on the MMD ticket, headman Lobolola said Masebo was a free Zambia who was entitled to her own personal decisions.

“We are not surprised because chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II said the truth about the under-developments and if Masebo wanted to change, it was up to her to do so.

“It is her wish, she has a free will,” headman Lobolola said. He advised President Rupiah Banda to take the statements of chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II seriously or risk having the people changing their allegiance. Chieftainess Nkomeshya wondered what benefits were there for her people to vote for MMD.
