ZIMBABWE'S leading energy experts and financiers are set to converge in Harare next month to discuss issues relating to the country's energy sector. The event, which will be held from September 27 to 29, will be the country's first International Energy and Power Conference and Exhibition.
The conference will be held under the theme "Driving investment in Zimbabwe and Africa's power and energy sectors and promoting clean/renewable energy technologies for industrial applications in energy intensive sectors."
Key speakers include Energy and Power Development Minister Elton Mangoma, Chamber of Mines president Mr Winston Chitando, African Dream Resources chairman Mr Allan Musona, Green Fuel (Pvt) Ltd and NuPlanet and Great Zimbabwe Hydro chief executive Mr Anton-Louis Olivier.
Regional speakers expected to grace the indaba include Southern African Power Pool chief market analyst Mr Musara Beta, Energy Utilities and Infrastructure head Mr Paul Eardley and Corporate Development of Copperbelt Energy Corporation managing director Mr Michael Tarney. Zimbabwe's priority power projects, power transmission and distribution investment opportunities and renewable energy investment opportunities, are some of the issues set for discussion.
In a statement, the event organisers said the conference would bring together all relevant stakeholders, defining and facilitating engagement on key issues, thereby setting the stage for concrete follow-up actions.
"The other aim of the conference is to identify investment opportunities in the Zimbabwean energy and power sectors including renewable energy investment opportunities. ZIEPC is Zimbabwe's only investment strategy event for the power and energy sectors, with an expected attendance of more than 400 participants," read the statement.
