Paladin general manager at Kayelekera Uranium Mine in Karonga, Jimmie Wilde, will be abdicating from office this month end, a development which has excited workers at mine who have accused him of being a hardcore racist.
Sources said Paladin board was not happy with his management style whereby he did not accommodate dissenting views especially from local Malawians workers. Greg Walker, Paladin’s General Manager-International Affairs, confirmed to Nyasa Times that Wilde will leave Kayerekera at the end of the month.
“He has not been dismissed but resigned from the company,” explained Walker to Nyasa Times.

Wilde is a third manager to leave Kayelekera Mine after Bob Wyka and Werner Missidat who left with a clean sheet.
Workers celebrated at Kayerekera on Monday after learning that the boss’s departure.
Johan de Bruin, a Geology Superintendent, who was recently promoted to become Mining Manager has also resigned and will go on 11th November 2011.
Workers said Bruin was a well-known racist from South Africa and he used to call himself a devil.
Most Malawian workers rejoiced upon hearing that he too had been shown the exit door.
The workers are now in total praise of Walker for getting rid of the “two notorious racists” who were known to have tarnished the image of the company.
Mr. de Bruin is well known for forcing staff to work in the mine without dust masks in September 2010. He is also known for promoting women after bedding them and went to approve a master programme for one lady against the company’s policy.
Meanwhile, the workers are baying for the blood of another notorious white Namibian lady known for causing havoc in the environment department whereby the entire environment team resigned.
The Namibian is well known for burning radioactive waste without the knowledge of government authorities and this attracted a penalty of K1, 000, 000 under the Environmental Management Act 1996 but she was shielded from the axe by Wildie.
Malawians are also praising the Department of Immigration for refusing to renew the Temporary Employment Permit of another white South African working in Store, Peter Harris. There are many more foreigners that are doing jobs that Malawians can easily do.
