PRESIDENT Michael Sata says the life of the late Princess Nakatindi-Wina is a testimony that every woman can achieve her goals. In his message of condolences to the Wina family, President Sata said he was deeply saddened by the death of Princess Nakatindi, a renowned politician and former cabinet minister in the MMD government.

President Sata (right) said Princess Nakatindi, who died at Milpark Hospital in South Africa on Thursday, had offered many years of dedicated service to the country and the cause of women.

"As one of the pioneering women in the struggle and later as one of the advocates of the re-introduction of plural politics in Zambia, Princess Nakatindi-Wina provides us great lessons that our womenfolk can with determination, achieve whatever goals they set for themselves," President Sata said.

"As a former cabinet minister in the MMD government, Princess Nakatindi-Wina has been accorded a full state funeral as per establishment by the government of the Republic of Zambia. She deserves that honour."

President Sata said the government would stand by the bereaved family during the period of enormous distress.

He prayed that God would grant them comfort and strength as they mourn the "departed heroine."

This is according to a statement released by special assistant to the President for press and public relations George Chellah.
