Tembo advises PF not to abuse its privilege

MIKE Tembo says there is need for unity of purpose in the ruling party. In an interview on Saturday, Tembo, who is the immediate past PF Eastern Province chairperson, said PF members should always protect the party from its enemies.

He urged members of his dissolved committee to support the party even in its dissolved state.

"You know, it's nice to be in the ruling party. Some of us overstayed in the opposition and I can tell you that it's bad to be in the opposition. As PF, we should not abuse this privilege that Zambians have accorded us," Tembo said.

He said he would support his successor Lameck Mangani, who was recently appointed by President Michael Sata.

"I haven't spoken to him (Mangani) but I would appeal that he wouldn't be vengeful; he should just embrace the spirit of togetherness by embracing everybody. Mangani was appointed, so if he can manage to grow the party in the province, the better for us all," Tembo said.

He said he was ready to help Mangani in any way possible if called upon.

"As party members, we have to look at things at a bigger picture," said Tembo.
