VICE-President Rupiah Banda has urged MMD party officials in Kabwe to organise themselves in order to bring development in the province. And MMD deputy national secretary Major Richard Kachingwe has called on party officials to desist from illegal land allocation.

Speaking when he officiated at the MMD provincial card renewal exercise at Hindu Hall in Kabwe, Vice-President Banda said time for celebrating was over and that time had come to deliver to the people. "It's now time to deliver what you pledged when you signed the social contract with the people who voted for you," he said. "Our friends have not lost hope to form the next government therefore you have to work hard to impress the people who voted for you so that they can put you in the government again". Vice-President Banda who called for unity in the ruling party said the MMD had achieved a lot in the past five years they had been in power. "There is need for unity of purpose if we are to improve the lives of the Zambian people," he said.

Vice-President Banda, who is MMD national trustee, hailed the people of Central Province for giving the party a high vote during the last elections. And speaking earlier Major Kachingwe called on party members to desist from allocating land to themselves. Major Kachingwe said land allocation issues were for the Ministry of Lands and the council and not the party. "You have the right to apply for land like anybody else, but follow the right procedure," he said.

Major Kachingwe implored party officials to stop campaigning for positions saying it was time to deliver. "The MMD is a democratic party when the time to stand for positions comes every one will be free to stand," said Major Kachingwe.
