Zambia, Zimbabwe to hold joint permanent commission meetings

The 15th session of the Zambia/Zimbabwe Joint Permanent Commission is expected to take place in Lusaka this weekend, Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced in a statement.

The meeting, scheduled to take place from September 8-10, is among many issues expected to discuss cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, anti-corruption and boundary issues.

The ministry further stated that the Zambian delegation which will include permanent secretaries from a number of ministries and other senior officials from other sectors of government will be led by foreign affairs minister, Kabinga Pande.

The Zimbabwean delegation is also expected to be led by that country that country’s foreign affairs minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi along with the permanent secretaries from various ministries and other senior government officials.

“The JPC between the two countries was established in 1981 and has to date, met 14 times, with the last session being held in Zimbabwe in 2006,” read the statement in part.

“The 15th session will consider and review cooperation in areas such trade and investment, agriculture, livestock and fisheries, finance and investment, mining and mineral development, micro small and medium enterprises, tourism, education and training, culture, transport, science technology, local government and housing, information and broadcasting, immigration, citizenship issues, museums and monuments, social welfare, labour, health, energy and water, anti-corruption and boundary issues,” the ministry stated.
