PRESIDENT Rupiah Banda should not ignore Lameck Mangani's concerns because doing so will make it difficult for him to win elections, says Jonas Shakafuswa.
In an interview yesterday, Shakafuswa said it would be difficult for President Banda to succeed if the MMD failed to resolve issues that works and supply deputy minister Mangani had raised in his letter to the party’s acting national secretary Chembe Nyangu. Shakafuswa, who is Katuba MMD member of parliament, said it was clear that the MMD leadership was at the crossroads and that most of the people surrounding President Banda were seriously misleading him.
"It is very important to realise that not only those perceived to be anti-Rupiah Banda are able to see the landscape of the possible leadership crisis in the party and for this, the President must see reason in allowing others to speak freely for him to learn and make proper decisions," Shakafuswa said.
He said this year's elections would not be easy for MMD.
Shakafuswa said there was need to embrace dialogue because accusations against other members of plotting against the party leadership were undemocratic.
He said demands for Mangani’s expulsion for meeting PF member Judith Kapijimpanga were very unfortunate, apart from being undemocratic.
