RUSSIAN Ambassador to Zambia Boris Malakhov says more investors from his
country were looking for business opportunities in Africa.

During the Russian National Day celebrations held at Taj Pamodzi Hotel on
Monday, Ambassador Malakhov said following his country's recovery from the
global financial crisis, a lot of business people were looking for
business opportunities.

“Following Russia's recovery from the global financial crisis, our people
are looking for business opportunities including in Africa...and since
Zambia is a good place for doing business, we will be seeing more of these
people coming through,” he said.

Ambassador Malakhov said the prospects of bilateral relations between
Zambia and his country were promising.

Meanwhile, the celebrations were held without a single senior government
official in attendance, and education deputy minister Dr Boniface Kawimbe
only turned up after an hour when the event had almost come to an end and
could not even make an official statement.

Before making his speech, Ambassador Malakhov said the government official
that was supposed to officiate at the event was still stuck at the airport
but hoped that they would turn up before the reception was over.
