THE late Retired General, Solomon Tapfumaneyi Mujuru, has been declared a national hero and will be buried at the National Heroes Acre this Saturday. The decision to accord the late Retired-General Solomon Mujuru a hero status was reached at the Zanu-PF Politburo meeting held in Harare.

The announcement was made by Zanu-PF National Chairman, Ambassador Simon Khaya Moyo, at the Mujuru residence in Chisipite where hundreds of people are mourning.

Zanu-PF Secretary for Administration, Didymus Mutasa, described the late Retired-General Mujuru as a patriot par excellence, adding that his national hero status can never be an issue of debate.

Zanu-PF Mashonaland East Province leadership and the Mujuru family hailed the decision by the nation to honour the late national hero.

Retired-General Mujuru was burnt to death at his farm on Monday night and his remains will be taken to his rural home in Chikomba, Sadza, where thousands from the constituency are expected to pay their last respects to one of their own.

From Sadza, the remains will be flown to Marondera before returning to Harare the same day.

Burial will be on Saturday at the National Heroes Acre.
