ELIAS Chipimo Junior has called on Zambians to pray for President Michael Sata and his Cabinet in order for them to run the country effectively.

Speaking when he featured on a live phone-in programme on Mazabuka Community Radio on Saturday, Chipimo Jr also urged President Sata to take the necessary action on the alleged corrupt practices by defence minister Geoffrey Mwamba and his justice counterpart, Wynter Kabimba.

He said the fight between Kabimba and Mwamba was now creating an opportunity for the PF to continue to fail to deliver on its promises.

He observed that "a house divided by itself cannot stand".

Chipimo Jr also urged the opposition to give constructive criticism to the government and avoid undermining its leadership.

And Chipimo Jr said the mute stance taken by President Sata on alleged corruption by his ministers does not inspire confidence in the fight against corruption.

"This fight against corruption is not going anywhere because nothing serious is happening; the Republican President has been quiet since the corrupt scam was exposed," said Chipimo Jr.

He said stakeholders in the fight against corruption want to see the two ministers suspended in order to allow for genuine investigations to be carried by the Anti- Corruption Commission without outside influence.

He said currently, officers investigating the two cabinet ministers could not effectively probe the matter for fear of losing their jobs or being demoted.

Chipimo Jr observed that the letter written by Kabimba stating that he would comply with investigations was not enough to guarantee free investigations.

The ACC are investigating Mwamba for soliciting a pole supply tender from Zesco and Kabimba on alleged corruption over oil deals.

However, sources close to the investigations have indicated that they have found nothing upon which to institute a comprehensive probe of Kabimba.
