ZAMBIA and Russia have agreed to intensify their bilateral co-operation in the face of the current global crisis.

The agreement was made during a meeting between Zambia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Given Lubinda and his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, in New York last Friday on the sidelines of the just-ended 67th United Nations General Assembly.

In a statement issued by Russian Ambassador to Zambia Boris Malakov, the two ministers "discussed the issues of further development of the Russian-Zambian relations in the context of common readiness of both countries to intensify the multifaceted bilateral co-operation".

"Current aspects of regional and international agenda were considered as well with the accent on the consolidated efforts in curbing the global economic crisis," stated Malakov.
