FIFTY-five people in Kabwe yesterday escaped death when the bus they were travelling in caught fire.

Central Province police commissioner Standwell Lungu yesterday said the fire occurred around midday when the driver stopped the Juldan bus, which was coming from Solwezi, to allow a passenger to get off.

"I have been informed that the bus was coming from the Copperbelt and when it reached Chindwin Barracks, the driver had to stop to allow one passenger to get off and that is when the bus caught fire. But all the passengers were removed from the bus without any injuries," he said.

Lungu said the bus, which was coming from Solwezi, was completely burnt, adding that it was good that no life had been lost.

Other details of the accident were still scanty by press time.
And police in Southern Province are investigating a matter in which a cow in Nega Nega area of Mazabuka gave birth to a four-legged creature with a human like head, which later on died.

Police yesterday exhumed the figure in chief Naluwama's area to establish circumstances that could have led to the cow delivering such a creature.
