Sinazongwe headman dies after being shot

A VILLAGE headman has died after he was allegedly shot in the head in Sinazongwe at a house of mourning. And police in Mazabuka have arrested a 44-year-old man who was found with two firearms and game meat.

Confirming the incident, Southern Province Commissioner Charity Katanga said Sanford Nakajola of Mubbike village in chief Sinazongwe's area reported that his elder brother Abel Kapandula 55 who is headman Syanyeuka of Syanyeuka village was shot in the head with an unidentified fire arm suspected to be a greener.

"The incident happened at a funeral, the assailant ran away and the victim died on the spot. The victim's body has been taken to Maamba hospital mortuary and is awaiting post-mortem," Katanga said.

And Katanga said police on July 22 at around 16:45 hours at Namaluba farm in Mazabuka arrested Happson Siadeeni of Kabobola compound who was found with government trophy and two firearms namely a pump action, serial number 9935679 and scout SB, serial number 1206899 with seven rounds of ammunition.

"His two friends are still on the run and the case of government trophy has been handed over to ZAWA while the police will handle the one for illegal possession of firearms," said Katanga.
