(LUSAKATIMES) Lift Zim sanctions – Chikwanda
Time Posted: August 6, 2013 1:58 pm

Acting President and Finance Minister Alexander Chikwanda has called for the lifting of punitive sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the International Community.

In his congratulatory message to re-elected Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe, Mr Chikwanda said countries in the international community still maintaining sanctions on Zimbabwe should lift the sanctions in the interests of common humanity fellowship.

Mr Chikwanda said the sanctions have outlived their usefulness. He said it has become morally implausible to maintain eternal ostracism of Zimbabwe from the community of nations.

The acting President further stated that going forward, the illustrious, diligent and resourceful people of Zimbabwe should be allowed unfettered opportunity to prosper and make useful contribution to overall global prosperity and wellbeing.

Mr Chikwanda in a statement issued to QFM News has since appealed to all sections of Zimbabwe to remain calm and united as they forge ahead for the enhanced economic prosperity.

Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe won re-election for a seventh term in office with 61% of the vote beating his long time rival Morgan Tsvangirai who 38% of the vote.
