Chiluba, Rupiah can’t uproot PF in Luapula – Sata

Chiluba, Rupiah can’t uproot PF in Luapula – Sata

RUPIAH and Chiluba have no capacity to sink or uproot PF in Luapula Province, Patriotic Front (PF) leader Michael Sata has said.

Commenting on President Banda's planned trip to Luapula where he is expected to visit Mansa, Chiengi and Samfya districts, Sata yesterday said President Banda had been cheated that former president Frederick Chiluba could secure him support in Luapula Province. He said Chiluba was not serious but only wanted to protect his skin.

"I know that there are plans for Chiluba to accompany Rupiah to Luapula but they are just wasting their time. What Rupiah doesn't know is that the people of Luapula Province are actually ashamed of Chiluba,” Sata said. “The people of Luapula know Chiluba and are embarrassed that a child they produced, one of their own children has nothing to show for what he did for the province in the 10 years he was in power. All those years Chiluba stayed in power he has nothing to show for them including at his own village. He failed to take development there. So their trip to Luapula makes our job very easy because people know the truth about Chiluba. Actually, that makes Rupiah Banda a very good candidate for 2011 because when voting, people will know the person they will be voting for.

"So if by going together to Luapula they think they can change anything, they are dreaming because both Rupiah and Chiluba have no capacity to sink or uproot PF in Luapula. They are just going there to uproot themselves completely. Chiluba tried to destroy PF on the Copperbelt but he failed.”

Sata mockingly said Chiluba was going to Luapula with President Banda to handover the dilapidated road network system and infrastructure that he left in the province.

"We are told that they will also commission a boat. Kaunda bought that boat which Rupiah is going to commission. Chiluba even failed to paint it. Now Mwanawasa painted the boat, which Rupiah will commission so congratulations to Comrade Frederick," mocked Sata.

He said President Banda should realise that Chiluba was a trickster.
"He gave us these 'rebel' members of parliament Joseph Kasongo (Bangweulu), Jacob Chongo (Mwense), Elizabeth Chitika-Mulobeka (Kawambwa), Dr Bernard Chisha (Pambashe), Peter Machungwa (Luapula), Besa Chimbaka (Bahati) and all these people have failed to provide leadership in Luapula. There are only two genuine PF members of parliament, Davies Mwila (Chipili) and Samuel Chitonge (Mwansabombwe)," Sata said.

"Those 'rebels' were given to us by Chiluba. Chiluba is also the one who sent Mulobeka and Ernest Mwansa to FDD to cause confusion. He is a worried person because he knows that he is only remaining with one 'rebel ' in Northern Province, Celestino Chibamba. Chiluba knows that if he loses seats in Luapula, he will be finished. But regardless of what he does, he will not succeed because we are ahead of them. If anything he has just gone to finish the MMD and those 'rebels'. No wonder the MMD in Luapula is very worried because they know the problems Chiluba is causing them in the province. "
Sata said Chiluba has tested President Banda's wrong generosity.

"What you should understand is that Chiluba is fighting for survival. He doesn't trust any leader in the country including BY Mwila," Sata said. "For the time being he knows that if he can help or pretend to help Rupiah to secure another term he knows that he will be free for another five years. In Bemba they say ‘umulandu taubola’ so Chiluba knows that the dubious freedom he has secured from Rupiah is short-lived."

President Banda is this week expected to visit Mwansabombwe. This is according to a proposed programme by the Luapula Province administration released to Kawambwa district commissioner, Gershom Tanga and made available to heads of government departments.

The proposed programme indicates that President Banda will also visit Mansa, Chiengi and Samfya districts.

President Banda is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Mwata Kazembe of the Lunda people.

The President is also expected to have a meeting with Lunda and Chishinga chiefs to be led by senior chief Mushota of the Chishinga people.
