SOUTHERN Province Permanent Secretary Inutu Suba has accused the chief planner of masterminding a protest against her by female civil servants. The female civil servants at the provincial administration in Livingstone have protested against Suba for allegedly harassing and abusing them.

On Tuesday, the protesting civil servants clad in black attire broke flowerpots and littered the entrance to the Cabinet Office building with flowers while chanting and singing.

"She harasses us and intimidates us, our performance levels have gone down as we scamper in all directions whenever we see her," said one of the protestors.

Another protestor said Suba was very abusive and was fond of reprimanding officers even in corridors, in full view of visitors.

They demanded Suba's removal as permanent secretary of Southern Province.

But Suba yesterday briefly addressed the protesting women and told them they were being misled.

She accused the chief planner, Linda Siwale, of masterminding the protest because she had failed to prepare a report and retire imprest in time after a China trip.

However, Siwale said the said report was done while in China and when it was given to Suba, she demanded an input from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"I did not fail in my duties, that report was written by me and an economist in China, but when we presented it to her she said she needed foreign affairs' input," said Siwale.
